How Does Your Donation Help?

HANDS in Nepal has held firm to its original goal of having no paid staff; we remain a 100% volunteer-run organization. With no funds going towards administration salaries, we are able to use our donations solely for our programs. The list below gives you an idea of how your money helps Nepal’s marginalized women and children, promotes education and improves literacy in remote, rural areas.
  • $5 U.S. dollars (USD) = $500 Nepali rupees (npr) - buys school books or a uniform for a child
  • $10 = $1,000 npr - purchases a school uniform, books and a backpack for a child
  • $20 = $2,000 npr - pays for 4x4 jeep transport of sewing machines and books up to mountain areas of Astam from Pokhara
  • $50 = $5,000 npr - sponsors a teacher for one month in one of the schools we support or hire a sewing teacher for one month
  • $150 = $15,000 npr - pays for one good quality treadle sewing machine
  • $200 = $20,000 npr - purchases 3 boxes of books (approx. 60) purchased in Kathmandu for delivery to our schools and libraries
  • $500 = $50,000 npr - helps Mala Kharel keep Bal Sarathi School open for one month ( rent, food & teachers' pay)
  • $1,000 USD to $10,000 USD  helps build Learning Centers in remote villages that currently do not have either a community center (for use as  libraries, sewing workshops and village health education) or school
Every dollar is hugely appreciated and a help to us! We give many thanks to those who contribute and join our journey to assist one of the poorest countries in the world.
HANDS in Nepal is proud to say that we can take YOU, our donor, and place your hand directly on the projects, people, and buildings you help HANDS and our Nepali family impact through your donation. Many Namastes and deep bows to you for your help!
Another way to help HANDS in Nepal is by hosting a fundrasier for HANDS in Nepal! Be creative...Fund raising contributes to the majority of our budget. If you’d like to host a HANDS fundraiser, we can help you!
